Frequently asked questions

Questions owners ask before a launch

These are the questions owners ask most often before opening, moving or adding a location with us. If yours isn't here, call, text or email and ask it directly.

The short answers are above. Below, a few topics get the longer explanation they deserve, because they're the ones that decide whether a launch goes smoothly. For anything not covered, our contact page explains what to send us.

Frequently asked questions

How much does launch marketing cost?

The Growth plan is $1,999 monthly, or $1,499 monthly when billed for a year, and Elite and Enterprise cost more. Prices are in Canadian dollars, plus 5% GST for BC clients. Ad spend, if any, is separate.

Do I have to sign a long contract?

No. You pay month by month, and 30 days' notice ends the plan. Annual billing is optional and simply lowers the monthly price.

How far ahead of opening should we start?

Around 90 to 120 days is ideal. With less time we still help, but we cut the plan down to the profile, phone handling and a simple site.

My opening date keeps moving. Is that a problem?

It's normal. The plan is built on milestones, so when the fit-out or an inspection slips, we move the later tasks rather than start again. We avoid publishing a firm date until it's certain.

We tried an agency before and got nothing. Why would this be different?

We can't speak for another agency, but we can show you what's different here: a dated plan in writing, accounts in your name, weekly numbers based on calls, texts and emails, and a willingness to stop work that isn't paying. Ask any agency for those four things.

Who owns the website, domain and accounts?

You do. Domains, Google Business Profile, ad accounts and analytics are set up in your name with you as owner. If you leave, everything stays with you.

Can you promise customers or first-page rankings?

No, and you should be wary of anyone who does. We commit to the work, the timeline and honest reporting. Our published results are real results from our HVAC work, shown with the client's name and site.

What will you report, and how often?

Weekly during the launch, then monthly. Reports show calls, texts and emails by source, profile views and directions, reviews and cost per enquiry for any ads, in plain language.

Do you install signs or help with my fit-out?

No. We are a marketing and consulting service, not a contractor. We'll coordinate with your sign maker so the name matches your listings, but the physical work is theirs.

Can you help with my business licence or permits?

No. Licensing is handled by the City of Coquitlam or the City of Burnaby, depending on your address, and by any provincial or federal regulator for your sector. We add the licence to your launch plan as a dependency and link the official pages.

Do you work with businesses that aren't trades?

Yes. Shops, studios, tutoring centres, clinics and food businesses opening in the area use the same launch method. Regulated professions remain responsible for their own advertising rules.

Can we meet at our new unit?

Consultations are available in person or by video call, as well as by phone, text and email, though we don't keep an office in the area. Photos and short videos of the space are also useful to plan your profile and site.

How quickly do you reply?

We usually reply within one business day. Messages are answered during Mon–Fri 9–6 Pacific.

Cost, contracts and what's included

Launch work runs on Trades.Agency plans. The Growth plan is $1,999 a month month-to-month, or $1,499 on annual billing; Elite and Enterprise sit above it. BC clients add 5% GST. The full table, with a worked four-month example, is on our pricing page.

Because plans are month-to-month, a launch doesn't lock you in. Many owners run a plan for the four to six months around opening and then decide, with real numbers in hand, whether to continue. Anything outside the plan price, such as ad spend, is confirmed in writing in your proposal before work begins.

Timing and what happens if your date moves

Opening dates move. Contractors finish late, inspections get rescheduled, and signage arrives after the paint. The plan is built for that. Each task is tied to a milestone, not just a calendar date, so if signage slips two weeks, profile verification and opening photos slip with it while the website goes ahead as planned.

The one thing we avoid is publishing a firm opening date before it's certain. "Opening this spring" on the site and profile is better than a specific date you then have to change three times. The launch countdown guide explains the full sequence.

Ownership and your accounts

This is the question to ask every marketing provider, and the answer should always be the same: you own it. We create the domain, the Google Business Profile, the ad account and the analytics property in your name, with you as primary owner. We are added as managers.

That protects you. If you ever stop working with us, nothing has to be transferred or rebuilt, and nobody can hold your listings hostage. For relocations, it also means the history built at your old address stays yours; see relocation marketing.

When an agency let you down before

Owners who've been burned usually describe the same pattern: vague reports, traffic numbers instead of enquiries, accounts set up in the agency's name and no clear plan. The fix isn't trust; it's structure. Ask for a dated plan, ownership of every account, a report built on calls, texts and emails, and a clear rule for stopping what doesn't pay.

We offer all four, and you can hold us to them in writing.

Reporting you can check yourself

Every report we send can be checked against a source you control. Calls and texts come from the phone line and the site's click counts. Profile views and direction requests come from Google's own dashboard, which you can open at any time. Ad costs come straight from your Google Ads billing.

During the launch, the weekly note is short: what was done, what's due next week, and four or five numbers compared with the week before. After the first 90 days it moves to monthly, with one recommendation at the end: keep going, change something, or stop. If a number goes the wrong way, the report says so in the first line rather than burying it.

Businesses opening on the Burnaby side

Some units near Lougheed station sit in Burnaby rather than Coquitlam, and owners sometimes only find out when the licence application asks. It changes less than you might think for marketing: the profile, site and ads work the same way. What changes is the city named in your address, the licence office you deal with and the wording of your directions. Our areas page explains how the two sides of North Road differ.

What we don't do

We are a marketing and business consulting service for trades and local businesses. We are not a contractor, and we don't install, repair, service or build anything. We don't handle permits or licensing, and we don't give legal or regulatory advice. Our services page lists exactly what we do.
