Move your business here without starting from zero

Relocation marketing moves your online presence with you. We change listings, website pages and customer notices in a set order, so the reviews and rankings you built at the old address follow you to the new one.

Relocation marketing is the work of moving a business's online presence to a new address without losing what it has earned. If you are bringing a business into Burquitlam–Lougheed from Metrotown, New Westminster, Port Moody or further away, your reviews, map position and repeat customers are assets. A careless move can strand all three at the old address.

What it is

It's a sequenced change of every place your address appears, plus clear messages to the people who need to know. The sequence matters because search engines compare sources. If your profile says one address, your website another and three directories a third, Google has reason to doubt all of them.

We sort relocations into two types:

  • A move. The business leaves the old address. The existing Google Business Profile is updated to the new one, reviews stay with it, and old web pages point to new ones.
  • A second location. The first location stays open. The new one gets its own profile and its own page, and the two are clearly separate so they don't compete or merge.

Getting the type right before touching anything is half the job.

Who it's for

  • Shops, studios and clinics moving into a new commercial unit near the stations.
  • Trades and home-service firms relocating their base or yard to cover both sides of North Road.
  • Businesses adding a Burquitlam–Lougheed location while keeping their original one.
  • Owners who changed their name at the same time as moving, which needs extra care.

What's included

  1. An inventory. We list every place your name, address and phone number appear: profile, website, directories, social pages, industry listings, supplier sites.
  2. A change order. We decide which changes happen before moving day, on the day and after. The profile and website usually go first, directories next.
  3. Profile handling. An address change on the existing profile for a move, or a new, separate profile for a second location, following Google's guidelines on one profile per location.
  4. Website updates. New address and directions, a location page for the new site, and redirects so old URLs don't break.
  5. Customer notices. Short, plain messages for your existing customers: what is changing, from when, and what stays the same. You send them to people who already know you.
  6. A watch period. For about 60 days we check the profile, reviews and search visibility weekly and fix any listing that still shows the old details.

Timeline

Start four to six weeks before the move. The inventory takes a week. Website changes are prepared in advance and switched on moving day. Profile changes are timed to when the new location is genuinely operating, because a profile should describe where the business actually is.

How results are measured

We compare three numbers before and after the move: calls, texts and emails per week; profile views and direction requests; and the share of listings showing the correct details. The goal for the first two is to hold steady through the move and then grow as the new location draws local customers. The goal for the third is 100%.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Creating a fresh profile at the new address and abandoning the old one, which leaves the reviews behind and can create duplicates.
  • Deleting the old location page without a redirect, which throws away its search history.
  • Changing the phone number in the same week. Change one thing at a time where you can.
  • Forgetting supplier and industry directories, which often rank well for your name.
  • Announcing the move before the date is certain. A delayed move with a published date confuses customers.

Next steps

If the new location needs a fresh profile, see new-location profile work, and for the address quirks of new towers read our guide on new-building addresses. Relocation work fits inside the Trades.Agency plans on the pricing page. Contact us by call, text or email with your old and new addresses and a target date.

We handle the marketing side of a move only. We are not a contractor or a mover, so the trucks, installs and repairs at either address are someone else's work.

Frequently asked questions

Will I lose my Google reviews if I move?

Not if the move is handled as an address change on the existing profile, where that is appropriate. Reviews stay attached to the profile. Creating a new profile for the new address instead is the common mistake that loses them.

Is a second location handled differently from a move?

Yes. A second location gets its own profile and its own location page on the website, while the first location keeps everything it has. The two must not compete for the same listing.

How long does search visibility take to settle after a move?

It varies. Some businesses see little disruption; others notice a dip for several weeks while Google confirms the new address. A clean, consistent change shortens that period.

Can you tell my existing customers about the move?

We write the notices and plan when they go out. You send them to people who have dealt with you before, through your own channels, so the contact stays within your existing customer relationships.
